FO: Guinevere's Shawl

After spending the last six months working on becoming a better knitter, it was pure loveliness to pick up a crochet hook again and just go!  I used this pattern as a start, but did not follow it to the letter.  I worked on  the shawl whilst watching Merlin, hence: Guinevere's Shawl.  This pretty  yet practical shawl reminds me of something Guinevere would wear.

I used some of my very favourite yarn: Sirdar Crofter DK in Heathery.  It's a lovely woolc blend that has a beautiful fair isle effect; all that lovely colour without all the intense effort!  For the trim, I used Sirdar Country Style DK is a deep cream.  I am also happy to say that is is a stash-busting project!

It makes absolutely no sense to be working with wooly yarn when the temperatures were soaring to 90+F; however, I'm thinking it was my brain's mad yearning for cooler weather that prompted me to start this project.  I am delighted with the outcome and am looking forward to when I can actually wear it without melting!

Plans to crochet a matching hat are in the works as I search for just the right tam/beret pattern.  Any suggestions are welcome!

I've been working with wool lately too! Thankfully, I'm only knitting a snood so so it's pretty small and doesn't make me too hot. Your shawl is just lovely! I've been thinking that I'll need one this winter.

These yarns are so pretty together. I haven't crocheted for ages and I have a lot of stash to bust, so you might have just inspired me to get into it. Thanks!

I would go for a slouchy beanie in one colour with a decadent crochet flower as decoration in the other wool. Something like this free Jo Sharp pattern... http://www.josharp.com/free-patterns/moss-stitch-beanie-lace-hat.aspx

This is SO gorgeous, and it uses some of my most favourite colour combinations. Why knit when you can crochet something as sweet as this? Love it!
