52 Dresses: Lisette Portfolio Dress
Last Sunday, after almost two weeks, I finally had the opportunity to sit down at my sewing machine for more than 20 minutes. I have been quite busy with work and at the end of the day, knitting has been holding more appeal for me than sewing.
I had this length of lavender chambray in my stash that I picked up this summer for $3/metre. I wore my Spanish Harlem tunic last week, which reminded me how much I love the Portfolio Dress pattern. I don't have a lot of tunic-style dresses in my wardrobe and knew that this fabric would be ideal. It's very soft and sews up easily.
I went a bit old fashioned (for me) on this make and simply pinked my edges, rather than finishing them with my serger. I was a bit nervous that the dress might end up looking a bit like a nun's habit as it's quite a soft colour for me. I completely stole Rochelle's ric rac collar from her Licorice Dress and added a couple of juicy purple buttons for good measure. I had enough ric rac left to give my hem the Scruffy Badger treatment and I love it! I wore this to work today with my very favourite stripey tights and it was just what I wanted for a chilly Monday.
What have you been sewing lately?

Love this! I made the portfolio dress too! It's a really fun pattern.
Cute pattern! Although I too have felt more like knitting than sewing lately. Must be the weather.
I love your tights! They are so fun and go perfect with the dress.
The dress looks great! I also like this pattern a lot and have two versions. The details on your dress look very nice. I'm really bad at that sort of thing, so I'm greatful for all tips. Now I feel like making another Portfolio dress too! :)
I love the collar!!!
